Dark Arena formed in 2004 by founding members Juan Ricardo (vocals) and Paul Konjicija (guitar) Juan best known as the Vocalist from the Cleveland band Attaxe and then later went on to be the vocalist for Ritual in the late 80's. Ritual released a CD called "Trials of Torment" on massacure records in 1992.
In 1996 Paul and Juan formed Arenah the band played on and off through out the years only recording one six song demo. Four of those would later be re-recorded on the first Dark Arena CD. After a legal battle over the name of the band by a band in Europe who was using the same name just spelled differently, the name was later changed to Dark Arena in 2004
Dark Arena released their first Studio CD called “Alien Factor” in mid 2006. Since then the band has open for several national and regional acts such as Pagans Mind, symphony X, Fates Warning, Nevermore, Kamalot, Dope, Mushroomhead, and Soilwork just to name a few.
In 2009 Dark Arena completed the 2nd CD called “Flowingblack” This CD was a darker heavier sound then the first CD and gained great over all reviews around the world. The band continued to play shows in support of Flowingblack for the next year, during this time the band wrote several new songs and started testing some of the songs out during some select show. Dark Arena began to record behind the scenes video during this tour and has plans to release a DVD of live footage down the road.
In 2011 Dark Arena headed back into the studio to begin preproduction on the next record. the band demoed over 20 songs including a few surprise cover songs. The new CD is slated to come out in the spring of 2012. The entire recording session was video taped and parts of it are viewable through the bands Facebook page. A possible making of the new record documentary may be released as a special edition DVD upon the release of the new CD.
